The happiest moment for Rory and Gianna
|
YS falls makes a pretty daytrip.

When Shannon mentioned she was going down to Jamaica
in February 2001 to attend a wedding, Chisako and I just
had to look at the snow outside in New York to decide to come along
for a long, long weekend. When we arrived at the
Negril Tree House
it turned out we were just in time, as Shannon's friends Rory
Barrett and Gianna were getting ready for the ceremony. They
just needed another witness, for which I volunteered. I did not
even have time to get dressed officially, but that did not matter.
A pretty ceremony, lots of pictures and a very tasty cake later,
we were all enjoying the champagne and a beautiful sunset.
Congratulations, Gianna and Rory, I hope you will live in happiness
and that you will come back to Jamaica on a quite a few
anniversaries.

Hi Shannon, thanks for the invite.

Words... Who needs them.

Lynn Goldrick joined us and took some
marvelous shots.

After hanging out on the beach for a few days, we decided to
see some of the other tourist stuff on the island and so we ended
up swimming with alligators in the Black River and enjoying
the YS waterfalls. I had been in Jamaica before, but never
had a chance to simply enjoy some of the attractions.
What's with the dress?

The ubiquitous Rick's Cafe sunset picture.

Who knew that after two days braids start itching that much?

And
a tip in case you ever go to Negril. Take a transfer flight
over there as the road from Montego Bay is in a ridiculously
bad shape. The
new road will 'soon come', for already 10 years. Giving the
level of corruption and bureaucracy in Jamaica, that new road
will probably never come. Probably the prospect of sharing this
road for 2 hours with suicidal Jamaican drivers, who overtake in
blind corners at 80 miles an hour, will scare away many
tourists for a long time to come.
Alligators only come out at night, so swimming is 'no problem, man'.
