How to get to my place

The address is 185 Claremont Avenue Apt. 1D, New York, NY 10027.

By subway

The closest subway station to my home is the 125th Street station of line 1 and 9. It is only one block away. A subway ride costs USD 1.50 and tokens can be bought at every station.

From JFK by subway

From the airport terminal take the free shuttle bus to the subway station. Take the A-train to Manhattan. Change to the 1 or 9 going uptown at 59th Street. Make sure you get the local train as the express does NOT stop at 125th Street. Get out at 125th Street and from there it is only one block to my house. In total it takes about an hour and 15 minutes.

A word about safety

Claremont Avenue is part of the Columbia University area that enjoys 24 hour private security. It is probably one of the safest areas in New York City. The situation deteriorates rapidly though, going north of 125th Street or east of Broadway. The 125th Street station though is still very safe at day and night. If you do not feel 100 percent comfortable, just give me a call at 917 597 0719 from the station platform and I will come and pick you up.

On foot

The apartment building is west side of Claremont Avenue in between Tiemann Place and LaSalle Street.

From the 125th Street subway station

Coming out of escalator on the west exit of 125th Street subway station take a right into Tiemann Place. The first left is Claremont Avenue. After about 100 meters (110 yards) the apartment building is on the right side. Ring the doorbell for apartment 1D.

By taxi

Tell the driver you are going to Manhattan, to the corner of 123th Street and Broadway. Coming from downtown, at this point tell the driver to go left into LaSalle Street and after that right, into Claremont Avenue. Have him stop at the left side of the street at number 185.
From midtown Manhattan it's about a 8 dollar ride. From JFK airport it is about USD 40.00 and a 50 minutes ride depending on the traffic.

By car

Driving into Manhattan is kind of silly. If you really want to enjoy the traffic jams follow these directions. Parking on the street in front of the apartment is possible, although it is very difficult to find a spot. There is no conveniently located parking garage nearby.
