How to get to my place

By subway

The closest subway station to my home is the 28th Street station of line 6. It is only two blocks away. A subway ride costs USD 1.50 and tokens can be bought at every station.

From JFK by subway

From the airport terminal take the free shuttle bus to the subway station. Take the A-train to Manhattan. Change to the 4 or 5 going uptown at Broadway-Nassau/Fulton Street. At Union Square change to the 6 at the opposite side of the platform. Get out at 28th Street and from there it is only two blocks to my house. In total it takes about an hour and 15 minutes.

On foot

The apartment building is on the corner of 28th Street and 3rd Avenue. The entrance of the building is about 25 yards (22 meters) from the corner.

From the 28th Street subway station

Coming out of the 28th Street subway station walk east, past the McDonalds into 28th Street. Cross Lexington Avenue , past 'Curry in a Hurry' , my favorite curry take-out. Cross 3rd Avenue and the entrance of the Chesapeake House is on the left side. Tell the doorman you are coming for apartment 7R.

By taxi

Tell the driver you are going to Manhattan, to the corner of 28th Street and 3rd Avenue.
From JFK airport it is about USD 38.50. Thirty dollars for the cab, 3.50 toll for the Midtown Tunnel and five dollars tip. It is about a 40 minutes ride depending on the traffic.

By car

Driving into Manhattan is kind of silly. If you really want to enjoy the traffic jams follow these directions. There is a parking garage underneath my building. Parking costs about USD 30 a day. Parking on the street is also possible, although during the day it is very difficult to find a spot.
