During all the madness of the last six weeks we were living in New York we went to visit the Bahamas. When I booked the flights I had not known yet that we would be in the midst of selling the house and moving out of the country, but as the trip was paid already we decided to go anyway. Now normally I truely dislike major tourist destinations, and I have indeed had a particularly
hard time visiting Disneyland, Cancun during spring break or Tenerife. Believe it or not, but I have actually visited these places and this has only confirmed my belief. So going to the Bahamas posed a bit of a dilemma. We went to Grand Bahama

Pelican Point Beach
The lodge is on the beach

which is as touristic as it gets, and to go to the really offbeat places was too expensive and time consuming. But if there is a solution for a problem, it is on he internet, and after a bit of surfing I found Freddie Laing's Pelican Point Beach Lodge. It is truely a wonderful place, located right on the beach, an hour drive away from the nearest anything. Just sitting the whole day on the beach and maybe only a few local children come walking past. And Freddie is also the local reverend so if you happen to stay on a Sunday, you should certainly hear him preach.

A few local children enjoy the beach as well
